TV Commercial Stars
TV Commercial Stars
We love the great TV commercials of the world, and always wonder how they create such star productions. You are familiar with these commercials. The ones that are too good to fast forward or walk out of the room to get a drink of water. You have to see them. You talk about them at the water cooler. They have permeated our society. They are not always the most expensive commercials, but effective.
I know I have loved commercials since I was little, but once I got to college things changed. Marketing was my undergraduate degree and advertising was something that was interesting to me. My future wife and I would sit around and watch commercials all day or during the super bowl. It was a great time. Many of those stars still stick with me today.
TV Commercial Stars
Let’s go behind the commercials and focus more on the stars. Who are they and what can we take from their stories? They have become part of the fabric of our commercial society. Let’s get to know more about them. At the end of the article, I would love to hear your thoughts on the list, who should be added. You can respond in the comment area.
VW Darth Vader Kid -- This was one of the funniest commercials of the most recent super bowl. Volkswagen commercial + The Force + millions of views before the Super Bowl audience. It was one of the biggest in history. Max Page + 6-year-old young kid + born with a congenital heart defect. He doesn’t let this stop him in his pursuit of what he loves. Max Page + “The Young and the Restless”, was one of his earliest jobs. Max Page + never seen Star Wars if you can believe it. Seems like all children this age have seen this movie, but Max is a little busy with a tight schedule.
Old Spice Guy – Most people don’t know his name, but Isaiah Mustafa is part of one of the biggest commercials on the air today. He is the Old Spice Guy + The Tonight Show with Jay Leno featured him recently. He is also listed as the Old Spice Guy + People Magazine’s Most Beautiful People 2010. The women love him and the men want to be him, as the commercial goes. Isaiah Mustafa + NFL practice squad wide receiver was the heights of his NFL career. He has parlaied that well into commercials and now movies. Isaiah Mustafa + Jennifer Aniston movie “Horrible Bosses” should be interesting to say the least. Isaiah Mustafa + Madea’s Big Happy Family is something that they critics may not enjoy, but the box office will.
Flo the Progressive Girl -- Stephanie Courtney is the real name of Flo the Progressive Girl + “it takes two hours in hair and make-up”. Can you believe that? But if you were getting paid every time the commercial ran, you wouldn’t mind. Stephanie Courtney + Marge on Mad Men is another place you may have recognized her. But Flo, the Progressive Girl + Facebook, fame have her a big pigeoned held. I will always remember her as Flo.
Those are my three most recognizable commercial stars. They are the ones that are really at the top of our minds when it comes to commercials.
