IBM Named Supercomputer Watson Founder Thomas

The IBM named Watson supercomputer was created by IBM founder Thomas Watson. The computer competed on Jeapordy against the two best players of all time and came out on top. It was basically a no contest with Watson winning by a landslide. It came down to the computer and Ken Jennings who had won 74 straight games of the hit show. An interesting tidbit is that the computer was not hooked up to the internet and had to decipher the audible question from the host and use it’s own database to answer the questions.

Jennings wrote a caption in Final Jeopardy, “I for one welcome our new computer overlords” -- a spin on a Simpson quote and added some good humor and sportsmanship to the close of the show. Must be hard for someone that smart to get outwitted, whether it be by computer or human.
