There is news fresh off the presses about actor Dermot Mulroney.

Dermot Mulroney will play Jim Rockford in a revamp of the TV classic the Rockford Files. James Garner carved out an unforgettable Rockford for the 1970s hit series.

Mulroney, 46, in his first starring TV role, will deliver a Rockford that is “slightly crumpled, wry humoured, cynical, world weary, compassionate when it’s called for and easily irritated by morons”, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Steve Carell and David Shore of House will be executive producers of the updated version of the show.

Mulroney has appeared in the movies Burn After Reading and My Best Friend’s Wedding, as well as guest-starred in Friends.
