Chris Rock & Bill Cosby
Chris Rock nearly wiped out his successful career by mocking Bill Cosby in a comedy skit while on Cosby’s own set.
Rock and Adam Sandler and the other stars from the film “Grown Ups” have been in heavy promotion and doing countless interviews for their new movie and Sandler revealed the story about Chris Rock’s “oops!” moment on the set.
During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Sandler recalls a visit to the set of “The Cosby Show” when Rock was shooting a handful of episodes in his late teens -- and when the pre-program warm-up comedian fell ill, Rock stepped in to keep the studio audience amused.
Sandler says Rock was doing fine and entertaining the crowd, but crossed the line and attacked Cosby.
Sandler recalls, “Rock, all of a sudden, starts going, ‘And what’s with this Bill Cosby?’ Everyone’s like nervously laughing.”
He then revealed everything turned bad when Rock accused Cosby of racism. Sandler said: “He went on an anti-Bill Cosby five minute run. The crowd is all people from Queens; they just worship Cos…They’re like, ‘I’m gonna murder this skinny young man.’ And Cos is like, ‘Not in my house…’ so they yanked Rock outta there…and asked him not to come back.”
