My Top Ten Favorite Baseball Teams
Here is a list of my favorite baseball teams that I have liked throughout the years.
10. Chicago White Sox: This team has always been intriguing. With the history of throwing the 1918 game to their current times of recently winning the World Series. Ozzie Guillen is always funny because he’s constantly finding things to say to offend or get himself in trouble.
9. Florida Marlins: The team that made the world series with Pudge Rodriguez and Dontrelle Willis was really great to watch. Their team had never won it before, and you could tell they played with a lot of heart and determination.
8. Baltimore Orioles: Sure they may lose a lot, but their kinda like that bloodhound that you think is a really good dog, even though it doesn’t do much, half of the time. I was always a big fan of Cal Ripken Jr. Players like that only come around every dozen years or so, and there sure seems to be less of them recently.
7. Chicago Cubs: I always thought they were a classy organization and very symbolic of what baseball is supposed to be. They may not have won a world series in a century, but their still a great team, and fun to watch. Cubs Win! Cubs Win!
6. Toronto Blue Jays: They were very good back in the 90’s when they had Joe Carter and John Olerud. Very powerful team with a lot of sluggers and clutch batters. Great in fielding and out fielding. What more could you ask for?
5. Los Angeles Dodgers: Another storied team with a lot of classic pitchers like Sandy Koufax among others. I was pulling for them this year to make the World Series, but no such luck. They have Joe Torre, who I didn’t like as a Yankees manager, but is good at what he does, none the less. Now that they have Manny Ramirez, they should be fun to watch. As long as they don’t trade him.
4. Atlanta Braves: They have some of the best pitchers in the history of the game. Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine. Is hard to believe they were all on the same team at one point. Plus the “Tomahawk Chop” is pretty fun to do, even if it’s not “pc”.
3. Arizona Diamond Backs: Definitely have some good memories watching this team when they went to the World Series in . I can remember when the ball plopped over the second baseman to spark the game winning run in 2001. I was jumping on the couch screaming, I couldn’t believe they had defeated the reigning champs, the Yankees.
2. Minnesota Twins: My favorite was the 1991 team that went to the World Series against the Braves. I was little and had grown up in Minnesota so this was a huge thing for the team to get there. They had Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbeck(my favorite), Chuck Knoblock, Chili Davis, Scott Erickson, Rick Aguilera, among others. I used to stay up late when one of the games went to extra innings till the late hours supporting my team.
1. Boston Red Sox: I’m not a band wagon fan because I simply like teams that can beat the Yankees. They sure did it big when they came back in the 2004 ALCS. They were down 3 games to 0 and came back, which no team in history had done. Amazing! That was a fun series to watch. With power hitters like Tito Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, and Jason Varitek. They also had clutch batters like Johnny Damon. They are still an outstanding team as they have won the World Series twice now, since breaking the “Curse of the Bambino”.
