The infamous golfer John Daly calls it quits for his golf career.

Daly is fed up of missing cuts and says when he does make cuts he is just taking a spot from younger, better players who could improve their careers by making cuts. While this is not the competitive attitude we normally like seeing from athletes there may be some truth to his negative comments.

“I’m done, I can’t compete. I can’t play like I use too. I can’t keep taking spots from guys out here playing this bad. It’s not worth it. I’m tired of embarrassing myself in front of (my fans). I can’t do it anymore.” Daly said.

John certainly hasn’t helped the image of golf. He has been known to drink beers on pro courses, take his shirt off, cuss up a storm and just contribute ornery behavior.

For the “anti-establishment” golf fans who like seeing a rebel, he will be missed. At the very least, he was very amusing to watch and brough a hard edge that golf fans weren’t used to seeing.

Some sports writers and journalists are suspecting this is a marketing move to help his reality show “Daly” which will air on the Golf Channel. At this point, it’s hard to tell.
