The elder Steinbrenner has controlled the Yankess since 1973 and has lead to lots of success throughout his tenure. George Steinbrenner was known for his talkative mouth and willingness to buy whatever players were needed, at any price. The Yankees won 6 world series titles under Steinbrenner’s ownership.
