Brian Orakpo, Defensive End for the Texas Longhorns has won the Lomardi Award. He is the first Houston native to win this award. He is also the first Longhorn to take home the trophy in 24 years. The award goes to the best lineman/linebacker for the college football season. Orakpo finished the regular season with 10.5 sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles. The Longhorns will sorely miss him as he is a senior and will soon be joining the NFL ranks.
