Wikileaks’ Nearly 400,000 Documents: 15,000 More Secret Afghan War documents, Iraqi Civilian Deaths. Julian Assange & Military Condemnation & CNN Rape Case Questions.
Wikileaks’ nearly 400,000 documents include 15,000 more secret Afghan war documents, and documents showing the US military knew, but did not release the proper count of Iraqi civilian deaths. The Military has given an official condemnation of Julian Assange and his organization “Wikileaks”, copying the Communist Chinese who had done so previously. According to the group, Wikileaks was founded by Chinese dissidents who fled China’s oppression and resided in Taiwan, the US, Europe, Australia, and South Africa. The head Julian Assange, is an Australian citizen currently taking refuge from US authorities who may or may not have a hit out on him. Recent developments in US law allowing for the assassination of US citizens (and he has less protections as an Australian) without trial are a good reference point. US-Ally Australia also opposes Assange, and has proposed to censor his websites in a China-style manner. A convenient years-old criminal case against Assange has also been reopened at an opportune time, and CNN rather than focus on historic leaks of military documents, CNN asked questions about the rape case.
Certainly US calls for his arrest for releasing information is also a form of “censorship”, and mirrors the very Chinese arrests of dissidents that the US has criticized and called “human rights abuses”. It posits two choices: either we stop criticizing the Chinese for doing what we are doing, or we stop what we are doing.
