Stay Calm Child’s Temper Tantrums
Stay Calm Child’s Temper Tantrums
If you’re a parent, or just someone who has been around kids for any period time then you know that children tend to have temper tantrums when they don’t get their way. Staying calm during these tantrums can potentially be very difficult.
There are a few things you can try to help you stay calm and stop the tantrum. Just remember to continue breathing. This might sound a little obvious, but breathing deeply when you find yourself start to get worked up over the screaming child can really help you calm back down. Also, try to remove the child from the situation if possible.
Try to give the child something else to focus on. If they are at the store screaming about something they want, try to focus their attention elsewhere, like asking them what they want to do when they get home. Children tend to have short attention spans, so bringing them to think about something else can usually stop the tantrum.
This is just their way of communicating, and they need to learn that communicating in this way is not acceptable.
