Secret Santas have a special tradition that recipients must pass along the kindness by giving a gift to someone anonymously.

The Society of Secret Santas, who have been largely inspired by the late Larry Stewart, have kept this tradition alive. Larry Stewart began playing the role of Secret Santa in 1979, inspired by a man who long ago helped him when he was down on his luck. When Stewart became a millionaire, he paid that kindness forward every year until he died in 2007.
