Ronald Reagan Opposed Making Martin Luther King’ Birthday a National Holiday
Ronald Reagan opposed making Martin Luther King’ birthday a national holiday, saying it would cause a financial burden.
Obviously Reagan’s concern was that if we just started declaring holidays left and right — there would be hardly any working days left on the calendar. Some people may accuse him of rasicm for this, but it is simply not true. He was only concerned for the economic prosperity of his country which he worked hard at to create.
