RFK Bridge & Bomb Scare
Evidently the RFK Bridge in New York had a recent bomb scare.
The NYPD has ruled out any foul play behind the unidentified person leaving a U-Haul Truck on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge. The abandoned truck smelt of gasoline which triggered a bomb scare and the New York Police Department and Fire departments were called in. The driver of the truck allegedly left the vehicle in the middle of the bridge as it was approaching a toll tax plaza and ran in the other direction. The bridge workers approached the truck and when they smelt gasoline a bomb scare was generated. The NYPD was informed and they took the incident quite seriously. The Police shut down the bride completely for a few hours following the incident to evade any possible mishap.
The RFK Bridge shutdown resulted in severe inconvenience for the commuters and traffic snarls were caused. Paul Browne, the NYPD Deputy Police Commissioner said that they did not want to take any chance with the truck. However, when they examined the truck nothing suspicious or a bomb was found in it. The cops had to resort to X rays to scan the truck. The identity of the truck driver is yet to be known. The truck has a license plate of Arizona as it has been reported. The motive of the driver is also unknown.
The truck driver reportedly wore a brown jacket and had a white bag with him. The bridge connects the 5 boroughs of New York. The cops in the city are on the tenterhooks ever since a man tried to explode a car bomb without success in Times Square a few days back.
