Peanuts On Planes Protected

Department of Transportation announced on Wednesday that there is not much that they can do with regards to getting peanuts off airplanes. The department last year sought the public opinion on ways that peanuts should be handled in airlines.

In a bid to protect people with peanut allergies, the Department of Transport came up with three ideas aimed at restricting peanuts in passenger airplanes. The first option was to ban the nuts completely from passenger planes. The other two options urged partial ban of nuts in airplanes.

The department has however announced that the peanuts are protected on the planes by US laws. According to a law that was passed about twelve years ago, peanuts can only be kicked out of airlines when a peer-reviewed study has been conducted. With that not done, the Department of Transport says the debate of whether peanuts should be banned on airplanes has now been put on hold.

Some airlines on their own have stopped serving peanuts on their flights. Some airlines have revealed that they cannot guarantee peanut-free diets on the flights.

The Department of Transportation urged the public to express their opinion on whether a peer review study should be conducted.
