One Hundred Years of Solitude was written by Gabriel García Márquez in 1967. This piece of writing is a great contribution by the writer in the world of literature. The novel is about a multi-generational account of a family named Buendia. In the novel, the authority of the family is in the hands of a male character Jose Arcadio Buendia. The town of Macondo is discovered by him in the novel and that’s how the story proceeds further. The story is written focusing the different time frames in a narrative style. The firs publication of the novel was in Spanish and it became so popular that it has published in almost thirty seven languages across the world. The novel was written in such a realistic way that still it is holding a prominent place in literature.
