Nick Van Exel, known as “Nick the Quick”, a 1993–2006 NBA star, is currently retired from the NBA. However, Nick Van Exel still works with the NBA as a “Player Development Instructor”. What is a Player Development Instructor? According to the NBA, it’s a field designed to help players make “continuous improvement in family relations, social interactions, personal growth and career development”. Basically it’s a program designed to help NBA players become role models for their community and navigate their often difficult and complicated social and family problems.
