National Peach Melba Day January 13

National Peach Melba day is a special day in the United States of America dedicated to the Peach Melba. This dessert was created by the French chef Auguste Escoffier for the Australian opera singer, Dame Nellie Melba.
January 13 is chosen as the day to celebrate this wonderful dish which is made from a combination of peaches, ice cream and melba sauce. Escoffier made this dish while she was performing in the city of London and it is a dish suitable for important occasions.

The Melba sauce is made of raspberries, sugar, pureed red currant jelly, , and cornstarch. In 1990 at the opening of the Carlton hotel, Escoffier also created this dessert again where he was the head chef.
The National Peach Melba day can be celebrated by purchasing the toast from the grocery store.
