Mega millions and $355 Million Jackpot and Washington and Idaho
The suspense on who bought the winning tickets in the 380$ million Mega millions lottery focussed on two small towns just 125 miles apart in the snow-covered Pacific Northwest.
These two tickets were sold in two different places as the title suggests. One was sold at a supermarket in eastern Washington while the other was sold in Post Falls,Idaho. The lottery communications Director Scott Kinney said that the Washington was sold to a retired man who plans to bring his family on Thursday to claim the winnings.
Surprisingly, no one in Idaho has come forward yet to claim the prize. Each ticket is worth a whopping $190 million, paid in 26 annual installments. The prospect of winning what is the second biggest jackpot in history drew a great deal of interest across the country as thousands lined up to buy tickets in the 41 states and Washington D.C.,where the lottery is held.
A day after the drawing, all eyes were focussed on the region where most of the nation’s frozen french fries are produced and also on the similarity between the winning digits and the ones used by a character in the T.V show “Lost”.
The winners basically have to match five regular numbers plus the “Mega ball”. For those who want to know what the numbers were, they were -- 4,8,15,25 and 47, with the Mega ball number being 42. Four of these six numbers matched exactly with those used on the show “Lost”. The numbers used in the “Lost” were 4,8,15,16,23 and 42.
Video producer of “Lost”, Ryan Jones of New York said that he and a co-worker pooled their money to buy 10 tickets together, but returned to the store to buy an 11th entry just so that they could play the “Lost Numbers”.
