McDonalds’ Offset Commodity Costs: Increase First Since End 2009

McDonalds is set for the first increase in prices since the end of 2009, showcasing rising inflation rates. The reason? McDonald’s claims it needs to offset commodity costs (meat, grain, materials, etc.), this is in contrast to say, rising labor costs (labor costs are not rising). The rise in costs will hit the poor especially hard: McDonald’s major business is usually from low-to-middle class customers. Many commodity costs have been rising, which tears into McDonalds’ profits, leaving them no choice but to begin this first increase in prices since 2009.
