Lucasfilm Spokesman Josh Kushins Star Wars Rumor: “Completely False”
Hopes, or perhaps “fears”, of a new Star Wars trilogy (set after the originals, not before), have led to a denial in the press that is on par with many celebrities denying affairs or other such “scandalous” behavior. The Lucasfilm spokesman Josh Kushins has said this regarding the rumor: “This is, of course, completely false. George Lucas has plenty of projects to keep him busy right now -- including plenty of Star Wars projects -- but there are no new Star Wars feature films planned.”
So, for now, at least, many fans are breathing a sigh of relief (or sadness). It appears George Lucas will not be making a new trilogy any time soon. Lucasfilm is, however, working on turning the series into “Star Wars 3-D”, which has enough of the more “purist” fanboys up in arms (despite still going to see the movies). However, it was Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic which assisted Avatar in much of their 3-D work.
