The former child actress from Australia has launched a new album, Kylie Minogue’s Aphrodite is getting rave reviews. As a child actress she is perhaps best known for her role on the TV series Neighbours. Her music has a huge worldwide appeal: last year there was a large incident at a concert with Kylie Minogue along with Alicia Keys and Steve Wonder which had over 70,000 fans present had a stampede which killed at least 11 people and injured 30, most of them women and children. The concert was hosted to held curb radical islam by promoting “Western culture”, meaning pop concerts.

Even before that bad luck, Kylie Monogue had battled breast cancer back in 2005. She beat it, and in a poll of 1,000 participants by British-based Amoena, she polled as the most inspirational cancer victim, beating out others like the late Linda McCartney and singer Olivia Newton-John. “Kylie inspired many women to be more direct about their own fears, encouraging them to believe they would get through their ordeal.” said Amoena spokeswoman Rhoda White.

The LA Times disagrees and thinks it won’t impress non-followers of Minogue’s music: “There aren’t many new ideas here, just more of the old reliable -- which, from such a believer, is still finely executed.”
