Haywood Nelson as Dwayne Nelson “Hey, hey, hey!”

Haywood Nelson became the sweetheart of a nation in his role as Dwayne Nelson. With his pretty boy looks and great sense of humor, he won over the hearts of a nation. But perhaps a greater legacy was the famous catchphrase that Haywood Nelson as Dwayne would say: “Hey, hey, hey!” on the famous sitcom “What’s Happening”.

Haywood Nelson wasn’t the only person known for a “Hey, hey, hey!” catchphrase. About the same time in history as he was playing Dwayne on “What’s Happening”, Bill Cosby designed a character that used a similar “Hey, hey, hey!” catchphrase, seen below:
