Gabrielle Giffords Gunshot Wound to the Head

The famous American politician Gabrielle Giffords was shot at her head on January 8, 2011. The 9 m bullet passed through back of her skull and came out the left corner of her head. The lady remained in a critical condition for several days. The bullet damaged the area of the brain that is connected to the body movement. Doctors removed the gunshot remains and a section of her skull in the surgery right after the accident. There were two major risks in the whole accident, the blood loss and the increasing pressure inside the skull as both of these conditions can lead to immediate death. The doctors told that luckily the bullet didn’t touch the central part of the brain that comprises of major blood vessels and that’s the reason the lady survived the initial blood loss.
