First Transplant Donor Dies
Ronald Lee Herrick, the world’s first transplant donor dies, at the age of 79, on Monday. He passed away at the “Augusta Rehabilitation Centre” hospital in Maine. It was a result from complications with a heart surgery operation in October, according to his widow, Cynthia.
Herrick, remembered as the first transplan donor, is famous for donating a kidney to his identical twin, Richard, in the world’s first successful transplant donation on 23 December 1954.
