You must be confused at the word ‘diabetes belt’, aren’t you? Diabetes belt includes a specific portion of the country that is the victim of having majority of the people with this disease. This diabetes belt discovered through the study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The belt covers the large area of six hundred forty four countries in fifteen states through out the south and southeast of United States. According to the study this belt has approximately 12 percent of people who are diabetes patients. The rest of the area of United States has 8.5 percent of people who have diabetes.
Most of the diabetes belt also covered the people who are also suffering from obesity. The obesity rate is higher in the belt as compared to the rest of the area of US. 32.9 percent of the people are found obese and the reason behind majority of them is they don’t work out. The rest of the country holds 26.1 percent of obesity cases and 24.8 of them are obese because they don’t exercise regularly.
