Cholera Somalia

As cholera has broken out in Somalia and now it is rapidly spreading across the war-victimized and devastated capital. According to the sources up to 20 people have been died till now and the number of infected patients rose to 2,000 people. Right from the start of February the arise of the cholera patients have been reported by Banadir Maternity Hospital and now the hospital has more than 2,000 cholera cases with a rapid growth in number continuously. The tragedy is, majority of the patients are children and infants and the reason behind this infectious disease is the lack of clean water and hygiene. According to Dr. Lul Muhammad, the last two days have brought 180 more patients of cholera. This is really a fast growing rate and the situation is alarming now. The symptoms of this infectious disease are sickness, upset stomach and vomiting that is resulted into dehydration. According to the doctor it’s very hard for the hospital to manage all these patients because of low financial resources and supplies. In such a critical situation volunteers are the ones who are contributing a lot to facilitate cholera patients with good treatment and medicine.
