Bay of Pigs Invasion
The major invasion was carried out at a beach on the southern coast. The name of that beach was Playa Giron that was positioned at the mouth of the bay. After this whole incident the attack was started to be called as the bay of pig invasion. The main purpose behind the attack was to overthrow the regime of Fidel Castro. The fight between the exiles and armed force of Cuba kept on going for three days and finally on 19th April the armed forces of Cuba bore the fruit by giving a humiliating defeat to the invaders. 1o Cuban exiles and four American airmen were killed in the air fight. Almost 176 armed soldiers were killed in the fight while the other numbers of killed, missing and wounded Cuban forces were between 500 and 4,000.
