Some say the measure of a true civilization is their sewage, and if that’s the case, the ancient Mayan people may have been more civilized than we thought.

According to new findings by scientists, Mayans may indeed have mastered the science of water pressure, enough to have water fountains and fully functional toilets.

Studying the ancient mayan civilization though ruins in Chiapas, Mexico, scientists have found hints at more advanced know-how among the Mayans than researchers had previously believed. But the looming question remains: did the Ancient Mayans figure out how to keep the toilet seat warm?
