A Few Good Men, the movie, certainly had a “few good men” in the cast: Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, and more. Almost all of the major cast members would go on to become mainstream Hollywood stars, not least of which Tom Cruise who was already one, but would reach higher levels of stardom. The film, directed by Rob Reiner (famous for his anti-smoking advocacy), is one of the best lawyer movies ever made. Lawyer movies are actually not a common staple of cinema unless the plot, and acting, is extremely compelling. Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson certainly deliver: their scene in which Tom Cruise says “I want the truth!” and Jack Nicholson replies “You can’t handle the truth!” is commonly repeated throughout America and beyond, in everyday verbiage.
