Prince & Vikings
Prince has penned a new song for the Minnesota Vikings, although it will not be a hit.
The Minnesota Vikings has a new song released by Prince. In fact, the Prince Vikings tune is evidence that the legendary artist loves the purple and gold. It is a fight song titled “Purple and Gold.”
The Minnesota Vikings beat the Dallas Cowboys by a landslide last Sunday. Those who were watching might’ve seen the quarterback Brett Favre singing “Pants on the Ground” taken by one of the American Idol contestants. However, Prince felt the need to pump up the team with a new song.
Vikings will play the New Orleans Saints for the NFC Championship on Sunday. The Prince song for the Vikings will be used to prep fans and the team for the game. You really don’t see a lot of musicians writing songs for their favorite NFL team, which is what makes this song different.
Prince wrote the song after last Sunday’s game. He is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Moreover, he’s been a Vikings fan through his entire life. In fact, he hadn’t been to a Vikings game in quite some time until last Sunday’s game.
Following the game, Prince said he went home and wrote the song. He noted that the song came “easy and fast.” The Minnesota Vikings love the song, and plan to feature it on their website.
The song sounds more like a church choir singing for the Vikings.
