Howard Stern is leaving Sirius XM when his five-year contract expires.

Howard Stern told his satellite radio listeners on Thursday that he is “pretty sure” he is leaving Sirius XM when his $500 million contract expires at the end of the year. Stern said he’s not leaving the radio business, though, “hinting towards a possible mobile application and a low monthly fee,” according to a report by Orbitcast, a website that covers the satellite radio industry.

Orbitcast noted, it was “some of the strongest language” used by Stern this year when talking about his future plans. The self-proclaimed “King of All Media” also hinted at the option of taking his show to a mobile platform, where users would pay a “low monthly fee.”

He said Sirius is pushing for another five-year contract, while he wants something shorter. It’s also likely that Sirius, which not too long ago had been on the brink of bankruptcy, won’t come close to the $500 million figure it lobbed to lure Stern away from terrestrial radio.

Earlier this year, Stern was said to be in talks to become a judge on “American Idol,” but no offer materialized. Stern has also said he’s had discussions about returning to the terrestrial airwaves, though he doubts that would happen.

Insiders say a decision on Stern’s future is expected to be made prior to Sirius XM’s third quarter earnings call in November. Stern added that he would tell his radio listeners first.

A Mexican flag cartoon showing the eagle dead in a pool of blood is drawing criticism.

The Mexican flag cartoon was created by political cartoonist Daryl Cagle which depicts the green, white, and red Mexican flag with a bullet-riddled eagle sprawled in the center of the emblem. Mexico’s coat of arms includes the eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, devouring a snake.

Cagle says he created the cartoon to depict the violence rampant in parts of Mexico. According to Cagle:

“Editorial cartoonists look for readily recognizable metaphors and that’s an obvious one for Mexico.”

More than 28,000 people have died in Mexico since President Felipe Calderón declared war on drug cartels after taking office in December 2006. But the Mexican flag cartoon has offended many Mexicans who feel their national symbol is off limits, especially to foreign cartoonists. Many readers reacted angrily when the cartoon was displayed on the front page of newspapers.

A reader wrote to the Mexico City newspaper El Universal:

“It is a shame that a patriotic symbol like our flag, which is so beautiful to me, can be mocked by a stupid cartoonist.”

“I think there are many other ways to graphically protest what’s happening in our country.”

Ricardo Alday, a spokesman for the Mexican Embassy in Washington, said:

“As any democratic society, Mexico respects and defends freedom of speech and freedom of expression, in any way it’s manifested. Regarding the case of Mr. Cagle’s cartoon, we differ on the use he makes of the Mexican flag and the message it conveys.”

Mexican cartoonist Paco Calderón reprinted Cagle’s cartoon on the Reforma newspaper, adding his own comment.

“I’m not offended by the cartoon. I’m offended by reality and the huarache-wearing Taliban members,” he said. Huarache is a type of a Mexican sandal and Calderón was using the reference to talk about members of the seven drug cartels terrorizing Mexico.

Even President Felipe Calderón admits the situation in his country is dire.

“As we all know, we face unscrupulous criminals with enormous economic capacity and great firepower,” said the president in his fourth state-of-the-nation speech Thursday. “I am fully aware that in the past year the problem of violence has risen.”

Cagle admits he’s somewhat surprised by the reaction to his cartoon.

“This one has been a little unusual in that it has been splashed all over the press in Mexico and I’ve been hearing quite a lot about it,” he says.

Cagle, who is the editorial cartoonist for msnbc.com, says his work appears in 850 subscribing newspapers around the world.

“All I was looking to here is make a statement that the violent in Mexico is terrible and make it visually compelling.”

In 2008, Mexican pop sensation Paulina Rubio was fined more than $4,000 after posing nude wrapped in the flag for Cosmpolitan, a Spanish magazine.

Ann Coulter calls Obama an atheist over the question whether he is Christian or Muslim.

Coulter says he defends Obama over what she calls absurd accusation and says Obama is an atheist. She also states that is not wrong to question someone’s belief. Coulter wrote at Townhall.com:

“The nonsense about President Obama being a Muslim has got to stop. I rise to defend him from this absurd accusation by pointing out that he is obviously an atheist.”

Coulter says it isn’t Obama’s abortion theories or the fact that neither of his parents was Christian. She also says it’s not because of his group of “spiritual advisers,” that she calls “Mother Earth worshippers, polytheists and other nonbelievers.”

Coulter claims that the only smidgen of evidence that Obama is a Christian is that he attended Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ for 20 years. She calls Wright’s “God damn America!” church one that does not believe in Christ or God. She said the church is also “borderline racist.”

Coulter calls Wright’s church, “a conscious, calculated decision to immerse yourself in hate-filled demagoguery and call it “Christianity.” For further proof she says:

” To the contrary, it’s Obama’s church attendance — back in Chicago — that proves he’s an atheist. This was inadvertently admitted by Obama’s leading butt-boy, Richard Wolffe, on North Korean TV Monday night. Wolffe acknowledged that Wright’s liberation theology was not Christianity, but then forcefully distinguished Obama from the Rev. Wright — i.e., Obama’s sole character witness for his alleged Christianity.”

Coulter also says that “all liberals are atheists. Only the ones who have to stand for election even bother pretending to believe in God.” This particular comment has started a fuss among many Christian liberals.

Coulter then goes on to say there is only one true Christian liberal, “that’s Mike Huckabee.” So what do the American people think? The nation is still divided but most believe that Obama is in fact a Christian if you were to go by all the polls coming out, with muslim close behind.

Glenn Beck calls Obama’s faith one that is routed in black liberation theology of an oppressor and a victim. Beck has on numerous occasions called Obama’s quote “My individual salvation depends on our collective salvation” a distortion of Christianity.

Guns N’ Roses pelted with bottles from angry fans in Dublin, Ireland.

The famous rock band stormed off stage at a concert in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday after angry fans pelted the band with bottles for turning up more than an hour late. The rockers were greeted with a chorus of boos as they started their concert behind schedule, and were forced to stop the set after just 20 minutes when revelers began hurling projectiles at them.

A mad Axl Rose warned the audience he would scrap the show if the onslaught continued, saying:

“Here’s the deal: One more bottle and we go home. It’s up to you. We would like to stay. We want to stay. We want to have some fun.”

“If you don’t want to have fun, all you’ve got to do is let us know. We’ve got no problem – we’ll go on our way.”

The group then left the stage, only to return after an hour to finish the show.

A New Hampshire teen that got his nipple zapped sues his teacher, the school district and the city of Dover. The New Hampshire high school teen was shocked so severely in shop class that his heart stopped beating after attaching an electrical clamp to his nipple and plugged the cord and got zapped.

Kyle Dubois and his parents claim that teacher Thomas Kelley did not warn Dubois and other students of the dangers of the electrical demonstration cords in their electrical trades class. On March 11, Dubois attached an electrical clamp to one nipple while another student attached another clamp to the other. A third student plugged in the cord. The result, Dubois was critically injured.

The New Hampshire Union Leader says Dubois’ suit contends he suffered permanent brain damage. Teacher Thomas Kelley resigned from his teaching position about a month after the incident. He declined to comment on the lawsuit.

Heavy drinkers live longer than abstainers according to a new study. However, moderate drinkers live longer than heavy drinkers and abstainers. According to the study that confirmed the health benefits of moderate drinking, sipping two or three glasses of wine, beer or cocktails per day helped older adults live longer.

According to the study in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research of 1,824 adults ages 55 to 65 found that moderate and heavy drinkers were less likely to die than abstainers over a 20-year span. Moderate drinkers were defined as those who have one to fewer than three drinks daily, with heavy drinkers having three or more alcoholic beverages a day.

The results refuted a common criticism of previous similar findings about drinking and longevity that results were skewed because researchers included former problem drinkers with poor health in the abstainers’ group. The Texas and Stanford authors found that, even after excluding results from past problem drinkers and people with poor health status such as obesity, moderate drinkers still lived longer than nondrinkers, they said.

Study authors led by Charles Holahan, a psychology professor at the University of Texas wrote:

“Importantly, any health-protective effects of alcohol appear to be limited to regular moderate drinking.”

“Heavy episodic drinking — even when average consumption remains moderate — is associated with increased cardiovascular risk.”

Overall, older adults who didn’t drink at all had a 49 percent greater risk of dying during the 20 years of the study than those who drank moderately, the researchers found. But heavy drinkers had a 42 percent increased risk of dying compared with moderate drinkers, the study found.

The results also showed that moderate drinkers lived longer than light drinkers, defined as those drinking an average of less than one drink per day.

One or two drinks may be beneficial, though “older persons drinking alcohol should remember that consuming more than two drinks a day exceeds recommended alcohol consumption guidelines,” and may lead to more falls, a greater risk of alcohol abuse and side effects from medications, Holahan said in a statement.

The study is published online and will be in the print edition of the journal’s November issue. The research was funded by National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Wayne Newton abandoned his jet to rot at a Detroit-area airport more than three years ago.

Now, singer Wayne Newton owes more than $60,000 after abandoning his jet in the airport according to officials. Oakland County International Airport President Joe Borgesen says the plane once worth about $2 million was flown into the airport about 25 miles northwest of Detroit to have interior work done that took about a year to complete.

Borgesen said Newton, who is known as “Mr. Las Vegas,” initially paid storage fees but then stopped. Borgesen estimates moving the non-working plane would cost about $30,000.

A woman who answered the phone at Erin Miel Inc., the entertainment company owned by Newton, told The Oakland Press on Wednesday she is aware the plane is at the airport but provided no further information.

Troy Polamalu vs Champ Bailey, who is the better defender?

Troy Polamalu was born in California in 1981 and is a member of the Pittsburg Steelers (PS) of the National Football League (NFL) of America. For the PS, he happens to be the ‘strong safety’. He was selected from a group in the initial round (sixteenth on the whole) of the 2003 NFL Draft for placement by the Steelers. Polamalu had participated in college football at the University of Southern California (USC).

Polamalu had used up his initial year at the USC as a backup where he managed to become a fusion competitor by playing at both the safety positions. Though he was only a backup competitor at the time, Polamalu still made his presence felt in the eight contests he played in. He gathered two sacks, two forced fumbles and obstructing a punt. He would eventually be promoted to a permanent starter at the strong safety location the subsequent year. Thereby, he received All-Pac-10 honorable mention honors subsequent to drawing to a close in the second spot in the squad with 83 tackles and fastening the squad for the lead in interceptions with two.

Polamalu’s most excellent year would appear during his junior season where he managed to become the USC’s initial All-American safety since Mark Carrier in 1989. Polamalu attained first-team honors from Pro Football News-Weekly and The NFL Draft Report. He acquired the 2nd team honors from the Associated Press, and procured the third-team honors from Football Weekly.

The PS employs Polamalu in a lofty proportion of defensive plays and in an extensive assortment of defensive roles. In merely his third season five years back, he leveled the NFL record for the most sacks, which happened to be 3, in a solitary fixture by a safety. The Pro Bowl in 2007 was his third uninterrupted emergence in Pro Bowl. He commenced at strong safety for the AFC and competed adjacent to the starting free safety of the Baltimore Ravens named Ed Reed. The competition they share anchored in their squads’ divisional opposition was palpable. The two fought for ownership of an overthrown halfback pass from the former running back of New York Giants, Tiki Barber. Reed went down with the interception.

The initial manifestation of Polamalu in the Super Bowl was in Super Bowl XL in 2006. That was the moment when Pittsburgh Steelers obtained the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl with a 21–10 triumph over the Seattle Seahawks.

Roland ‘Champ’ Bailey happens to be a cornerback for the squad of Denver Broncos, which is a component of the NFL of America. Bailey was selected from a group in the initial round (7th in general) of the 1999 NFL Draft for placement by the Washington Redskins.
Bailey was present at and participated in football at the Charlton County High School. He was one of the most dependable and consistent shutdown corners in his high school years. He was extensively desired by colleges across America. Bailey was considered as one of college football’s superlative manifold threats (offense, defense and special squads) in the three seasons that he devoted to the University of Georgia.

In September 2004, Bailey intercepted his first pass as a Denver Bronco. This was during the NFL’s first ‘Sunday Night Football’ fixture of the season.

In July 2006, in a divisional playoff match against the New England Patriots, Bailey attained the record for the greatest non-scoring play in the timeline of the NFL. During the fixture, with the Patriots in close proximity to the goal line, Bailey captured a pass from quarterback Tom Brady in the end zone. Bailey subsequently returned it 100 yards to the Pats’ one yard line, after which he was hunted down and dealt with by New England’s Benjamin Watson.

The 2007 season of Bailey was one cursed by injuries. Still, Bailey cataloged 84 tackles in conjunction with three interceptions. He was sent to an additional Pro Bowl and obtained second-team All-Pro honors.

Brazil’s Elisany Silva is 14 years old and 6’9” she is the world’s tallest teen girl, not only that, she is going into modeling.

She’s so tall, she hits her head into the ceiling of the small house in which she lives, and she had to stop going to school because she couldn’t fit on the bus. The family seems unclear on exactly why Silva is so tall. “I want [her] to stop growing up, to be [like] the other girls,” her mother says, “because I know she feels weird and sometimes wants to be like them.” Despite the challenges, Silva wants to become a model, and she’ll be making her catwalk debut in an upcoming bridal show in Belem, Brazil.
