Actor Sidney Poitier was involved in a car crash on Monday around 4pm.

According to reports, the actor was driving a Mercedes Benz when he crashed his car into a Porsche. Fortunately the actor didn’t sustain any injuries, but a person who was in the Porsche had to be rushed to the ULCA medical center, but witnesses said that his injuries were not life threatening.

According to a statement by the Beverly Hills PD, “Poitier was driving a dark colored Mercedes Benz northbound when it collided with a dark colored Porsche.” The police officials also said that an investigation is on, into the crash.

The 83 years old actor Sidney Poitier created history when he became the first Black man to take home the Oscar for the Best Actor in 1963 for the movie – ‘Lilies of the Field.’ Besides this, he received critical acclaim for his brilliant work in the movies – “To Sir, with Love,” “In the Heat of the Night” and “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”.
