Elizabeth Taylor & Burton Love Letters
All of Elizabeth Taylor’s love letters to Richard Burton have now been released for the public to view.
The classically beautiful actress was married 8 times, twice to Richard. They started off in a scandalous affair in Rome, which was denounced by the Vatican, but their relationship ended up playing out over 20 years. Though she keeps one special note secret, we get a poetic insight into the love the two shared.
At one point, speaking to Elizabeth Taylor, Burton’s love letters talked about how he should have been a writer instead of a “sissified” actor. And after reading the amazing words of his, I see his point. He talks about her beauty and talent, and he openly expresses his unfailing love for her:
“If you leave me, I shall have to kill myself. There is no life without you.”
“You are probably the best actress in the world, which, combined with your extraordinary beauty, makes you unique.”
Though the letters are all from him, in the magazine interview that accompanies them, we hear some of this amazing woman’s thoughts on her late partner.
“Richard was magnificent in every sense of the word. And in everything he ever did…. He was the kindest, funniest, and most gentle father. All my kids worshiped him. Attentive, loving — that was Richard — from those first moments in Rome we were always madly and powerfully in love.”
She holds dear the last note he wrote a few days before his death, and she keeps it in her bedside table. Those two were definitely something!!
And after all these years this 78-year-old woman’s love life is still being talked about and envied. Recently she was rumored to be engaged to her manager Jason Winters, but it turned out to be false. She also recently had heart surgery that was apparently a success, and she is still doing fine!
