Cameron Douglas: Jail

If Cameron Douglas thought jail was bad, wait till he has to stay in prison for half a decade.

Celebrity Crime Beat -- Michael Douglas’ son Cameron Douglas has been sentenced to five years in prison for heroin possession and conspiring to sell crystal meth. The 31-year-old told the court he was sober and he was thankful for the opportunity to get clean, People reports.

“I’d like to apologize to my family and loved ones for putting them through this nightmare of my making,” said Cameron. “I believe, your honor, things will be different this time.”

Michael Douglas had made a passionate plea on his son’s behalf, penning a five-page handwritten letter to the judge. The star of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps wrote: “For the past eight months, I have cherished my two hr. a week in person conversation with Cameron at the MCC [Metropolitan Correctional Center].

He’s sober! “I get to witness the wonderful young man he can be. He maintains his spirit, blames no one but himself, and recognizes his criminal activity began with his heroin use.”

Nicholas De Feis, Cameron Douglas’s attorney said: “He’s not going to let his family down, and they’re not going to let him down.”
