Tommy Tuberville Fired!

Tommy Tuberville who has coached Auburn for over ten years will be fired today. He did meet with the Auburn administration earlier today to discuss his future. Auburn scheduled a team meeting at 7 p.m. ET to inform players of the decision. Coach Tuberville took the team to the SEC Championship and won in 2004. They remained undefeated that year, but were on the outside looking in on the BCS championship game.

Mike Leach of Texas Tech is the man most looked to right now as the possible replacement for Tuberville. The SEC has been very competitive with on-fire teams like Alabama and Florida making everyone look bad. The Auburn Tigers went 5-7 overall and 2-6 in conference. They were shut out in their last game against Alabama 36-0, their worst loss to their rival since 1972.

Sean Avery Suspension!

Sean Avery has been known for his kooky antics, but this time the Dallas Stars player took it too far. A Calgary Flames player, Dion Phaneuf, is evidently dating one of Sean’s ex-girlfriends, Elisha Cuthbert. In a conversation with the TSN he said, “I’m really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada and I just wanted to comment on how it’s become a common thing for guys in the NHL to fall in love with my sloppy seconds.”

Wow, I can’t believe Sean Avery actually said that like he was talking to one of his buddies and not the press. He definitely wasn’t using his brain on that one. He has been suspended by the NHL for an intitial two game before they hold a hearing. The Stars need to get rid of Avery before he ruins their classy reputation.

Nebraska vs Clemson in the Gator Bowl

We have just found out that Nebraska will play Clemson in the Gator Bowl for 2009. The game will be on Jan 1st in Jacksonville Florida. This is one of the first bowl games that has been officially set so far. Clemson is a good team and this will be a fairly balance game. Both sides have fanatical large fan bases. It’s hard to say who would win this one.

Derrick Rose Breaks Andre Miller’s Ankles

Derrick Rose has a mean crossover and puts it on display against Andre Miller in this YouTube video. He breaks Miller’s ankles bad. I mean Miller fell on his butt, because he bit on it so much. Then when Rose drives it in, the other team goaltends his shot. If Derrick Rose is breaking people’s ankles in his first year, think when he’s a veteran what he’ll be able to accomplish.

Lane Kiffin Press Conference

Lane Kiffin has his introductory press conference with the media as the Tennessee Volunteers new head coach today at 2 pm. He looked nervous in the beginning of the conference but cooled off towards the end. This is to be expected with such pressure to turn the team around and having to deal with people like Al Davis so recently. Mike Hamilton introduced him as the 21st coach of teh Tennessee Program. Kiffin said he plans to jump on a plane this afternoon to go to Memphis to see the number one recruit in the land; Marlon Brown. He say people will need to be patient with his staff as they work to better the Volunteers football team. Kiffin also said that there are no starters and that everyone will have to earn their spot on the team. The only assistant to be named so far is Kiffin’s brother in law, David Reaves from South Carolina.

Wes Welker Hit Video

Take a look at this hit from yesterday’s Patriots vs Steelers game. I apparently wasn’t watching the TV when this hit took place. It was a real dirty hit on Wes Welker and he didn’t even catch the ball. (more…)

Georgetown Hoyas Center Greg Monroe

[AP Photo]

The starting freshman Greg Monroe, center for the Georgetown Hoyas, is quite the player. He is already averaging 14.4 points 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He is a long player who can block and alter shots better than most freshman. He is the leading scorer on the Hoyas and is helping Georgetown stay ranked in the top 20. He is a left handed player who can just about score from anywhere on the floor. He is more versatile and quick than past Georgetown centers like Patrick Ewing. He has the potential, and under John Thompson the third he will flourish.

Davone Bess

Davone Bess went to Skyline Highschool in Oakland California. He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. Davone got into trouble when he was in high school by letting a friend hide stolen items in his car. Because of this he lost his scholarship to Oregon State. In 2005 he was able to go play football in college for Hawaii. Luckily for him this was the year Colt Brennan joined the Hawaii Warriors alongside Bess. So alot of passes went Davone’s way during those four years. Davone was not drafted in 2008 but he was an unsigned free agent with the Miami Dolphins. He caught his fist touchdown against the Raven in week 7 this year. I think this is a great example of persisting and not letting life get you down.

Percy Harvin Injury

Apparently in the Florida-Florida State game Percy Harvin went down with an ankle injury. We’ll have to keep an eye on this matter to see if he recovers. The Florida Gators always involve Harvin in their offense and it would be a severe blow to them if they lost him for the SEC championship or the National Championship. The Gators must got through the defensive Alabama team to get to the National Championship. We will keep you updated on this injury.
