Italian premier Berlusconi resigns under debt crisis

Italian premier Berlusconi resigns

Italian premier Berlusconi resigns

European debt crisis finally cost Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in terms of power. The political crisis in Rome forced the prime minister ultimately to Berlusconi quit the office following the vote for economic reforms package which was aimed to reverse the collapsing market confidence in the parliament’s lower house on Saturday.

Berlusconi’s exit has opened a chance for Mario Monti, who is expected to lead the new Technocrat government. Berlusconi’s coalition has indicated enough to give support to Monti. The fall of Berlusconi’s government occurred immediately after Greek Prime Minister George A. Papandreou’s resignation.

Both countries faced political crisis that originated from confrontation of the two premiers with European Union diplomats.
The crumpling European markets and deteriorating value of euro made the two countries rethink over their interests by staying in the European Union. Papandreou and Berlusconi wanted to quit from EU to save their respective currencies however this not only gave their opponents good reasons for protests, they also received severe criticism from European leaders across EU.

With this, Berlusconi’s 17-year dominance in Italian politics ended. Political observers call it the most dramatic movement in Italian history as the resignation of prime minister was received gladly by people. Berlusconi had stated he would step down when the Parliament passed austerity measures to appease the European Union. The country faced a crisis when EU threatened to stop giving aids to Italy.

India refutes removing army from peaceful Kashmir

Indian army fiercely denied removing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from those parts of Jammu and Kashmir, which are considered rather peaceful. The army justified its reluctance that this would increase the probability of violence.

A senior army commander stated that even if Srnagar and Budgam look peaceful, it does not give any surety of stability in Kashmir over all.

Kashmir has always been prone to insurgency and terrorism. Citing this, Indian government has consistently deployed different special wings of army in the region to avoid further infiltration by neighboring countries beyond the Line of Control [LoC].

Omar Abdullah, Jammu & Kashmir chief minister, urged that the the AFSPA should withdraw itself from peaceful sections has there is no needs of these troops there. However, the chief minister’s suggestion is looked over with a lot of skeptics.
While holding a meeting with other diplomats and officials, Omar called on army to reconsider its decision to retain troops in Srinagar despite long-prevailing peace in the region.

The meeting was also attended by many officials, civil servants, and Omar revealed his opinion to the media following the shift of Darbar.

Iran stays rigid against compromise in nuclear policy

Iran insists on developing nuclear weaponsIran has always been a pain in nose for the United States, which makes best efforts to exercise diplomatic supremacy over all countries. Iran’s nuclear programme and insistence to continue developing nuclear weapons secretly has provoked a serge amongst small nations to possess nuclear power.

Israel, the greatest rival of Iran issued direct warnings that to compete with Iran, even Tel Aviv government would join the race. Israel also threatened to attack on Iran’s nuclear plants.

On the one hand, the United States, the United Kingdom and France are voicing to take military actions against Iran following its ignorance to International Atomic Energy Agency’s guidelines, while on the other hand global diplomats are severely criticizing the strategy of direct military actions.

The global community calls on the Big Brother— the United States to recognize the futility of military action to establish peace. These strategies have already failed to bring any peace and real essence of democracy in any country. Also, Israel needs to learn that history can not be altered with weapons.
