Oher (Pronounced Oar)
The story of NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher (pronounced oar) is quite an intriguing one. Michael was found on the side of the road by the Tuohy couple driving by. Oher grew up in a Memphis housing project and nearly fell through the cracks before being adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy.
Sean Tuohy said during the Cotton Bowl that he “might not have pulled over” if it hadn’t been for his wife’s persistence. They raised him and taught him about religion and he got a scholarship to play for Ole Miss. Oher has had a great career with Ole Miss and got drafted 23rd in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens.
Michael had his life documented in the best seller, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game as well as a full length film The Blind Side which comes out today.
