Pumpkin Pie Shortage

(Pumpkin Pie Shortage)

Better get your pumpkin pie fast — Nestle, the largest producer of pumpkin pie in the United States with nearly 80 percent of the market, says the recent rain, storms, and other bad weather have caused them to have a poor harvest. The reason so much of the pumpkin crop used to make pumpkin pie was ruined is it is mostly located at one place: Morton, Illinois. That location had received far too much rain causing the pumpkin crops to go bad, creating a massive shortage.

Paul Bakus of Nestle’s Baking Group explained another problem with the weather on the harvesting of the pumpkins used to make pumpkin pie: “the [semi trucks] just can’t make it through the mud”. It appears there will be a massive pumpkin pie shortage over the holidays.
