(NBA: Give Up 23!)

Lebron James is asking the NBA to retire the number 23 in honor Michael Jordan. Lebron announced that he will give up 23, and change his number to 6. The basketball superstar is also pressuring other professional basketball players who wear the number to give up 23 and to join him in retiring it, hopefully permanently. Lebron believes that “no guy in the NBA should ever wear 23″, and wants all of the other players to show respect to the number and the man who used to wear it.

Traditionally teams in the NBA have retired jerseys and give up numbers for exceptional players. However, this would be the first time for the NBA to retire a number (23) for the entire league. There may be various difficulties in getting the entire league, as opposed to a single team, to give up 23.
