Clinton-Bush Debate Off
(Clinton-Bush Debate has been called off, many imagined it to be like the H.W. Bush vs Clinton vs Perot debates in the video above, but it was not meant to be promoted as such)
The Clinton-Bush Debate has been called off. George W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton were scheduled to appear together at a moderated forum.
Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna said the reason was because the event “was never slated to be a debate” and was supposed to be a moderated panel discussion between the past two men who held the Office of the Presidency. Matt lays the blame squarely upon an “overeager promoter”:
“This event…was supposed to be a discussion between the two former presidents, and has been cancelled because it was not being billed as such by an overeager promoter.”
That promoter may be Melissa Miller Ormond, MSG Entertainment’s chief operating officer, who billed the event as a competitive presidential debate druing “one of the most exciting and, at times, controversial political landscapes of our time,” hoping it would educate the public.
Melissa also said: “will not only provide guests with an informative and empowering experience, but also encourage people to engage in continued dialogue surrounding the most significant current events of our day.”
The “presidential smackdown” was scheduled for Feb. 25 at Radio City Hall, with whom the two men had a contract. But MSG hired its own promoter to hype the event, who clearly marketed it incorrectly. This lead both Presidents to withdraw from the event.
