Edward Mezvinsky Sentenced: Fraud
In March of 2001, Edward “Fast Talkin’ Eddie” Mezvinsky made a deal and pled guilty to 31 of 69 charges of fraud, involving an amount of roughly $10 million dollars. Edward Mezvinsky was sentenced for fraud to 80 months in federal prison. After his indictment (rather than prior to it, which would seem more authentic), he got a diagnosis from a doctor of having bipolar disorder and tried to use a mental illness defense (to become “not guilty” by reason of insanity). Mezvinsky had been the Chairman of the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania’s committee. Mezvinsky also worked on the United Nations Commission on Human Rights for President Jimmy Carter. He ran for many political offices in the Democratic party and failed many times, but had been a congressman for two terms during which he had voted for the impeachment of President Richard Nixon.
