23 Americans Convicted
(23 Americans Convicted: Video Report on CIA officials imprisoned for torture)
In Italy, an Italian judge convicted 23 Americans (CIA officers, diplomats, etc.) and two italians, finding them guilty of kidnapping and torture yesterday in the torture kidnapping of an Egyptian terror suspect, delivering the first legal convictions in world history against CIA agents in the Central Intelligence Agency’s extraordinary renditions program.
The Obama administration has spoken out against the CIA interrogations program and many other Bush administration policies. However Obama has continued to the practice of extraordinary rendition. It is expected that Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder will not cooperate with the Italian authorities in handing over the 23 convicted Americans, or any of the CIA agents. It is still uncertain if INTERPOL will get involved in requesting the individuals be turned over into Italian custody.
