Bob Bowersox Fired

Bob Bowersox is leaving the shopping network QVC. It has not been clarified whether the famous actor/spokesperson was fired, quit, or retired. The network did not extend or make a big deal of his leaving. The most agreed on conclusion in the QVC viewer community is that he did not renew his contract and the network didn’t fight to get him back. Bowersox has done some acting work and had said a couple of months before that he wanted to pursue other avenues.

Holyfield vs Valuev

Tonight we have Holyfield vs Valuev live on Showtime. It will air on TV tonight, and much of the nation and world will see if Evander ‘The Real Deal’ Holyfield (42-9-2, 27 KOs) still has it. Nikolay Valuev (49-1, 34 KOs) has about a hundred more pounds and a ten inch height advantage. This is basically David vs Goliath. It reminds me of when Apollo Creed faced Ivan Drago. I’m pulling for Holyfield to shock the world and somehow find a way to win.

Update: Yeah Holyfield lost in a unanimous decision. At least he lasted 12 rounds.

RCA Dome Implosion

Take a look at this video of the RCA dome implosion. This is the former home of the Indianapolis Colts and is being demolished since they are building a new stadium. The demolition went off without any problems. The stadium had been around for nearly a quarter of a century.

Survivorman Series Finale

The Survivorman series had it’s finale last night at 9 pm on the Discovery channel. The show is based around Les Shroud surviving with only a few tools in complete wilderness. He films himself while he teaches people wilderness survival techniques. He would be dropped into places like the central american rainforest or the freezing wilderness of Alaska. I prefer Man vs Wild because I think that Bear Grylls has more insightful information and can survive with a lot less equipment. Both shows are comparable and have had large followings.

Adventureland Movie Trailer

Here is the trailer for the upcoming movie Adventureland. It is done by the people who made Superbad. It looks pretty funny, but probably not quite as hilarious as Superbad. It stars Jesse Eisenburg and Kristen Stewart as well as Ryan Reynolds who is always funny.

7 Pounds Trailer

Here is the new 7 Pounds trailer. This film is starring Will Smith and Rosario Dawson, it looks to be an emotional roller coaster. The kind of film the academy loves but sometimes audiences differ with.

I have yet to see this film and I am reserved as to whether it will be worth my time or not. The film opened today.

Comcast Kills World of Warcraft

Well, you are either going to be in pure bliss or in pure agony depending on how you view World of Warcraft. Comcast has managed to kill WoW for the majority of the U.S. What occured was the lastest patches from Blizzard are being downloaded through BitTorrent. However, Comcast has decided to block BitTorrent because one can download free movies and games from them. Because the majority of WoW players use Comcast as their internet provider this kills the WoW game until Blizzard or someone else creates a solution. I can’t imagine their embarrassment if they have to ask someone else to “borrow their internet provider” so they can download a patch for WoW. Then they might realize how obsessed they are with a horrible game.

Terrence Cody Prank

Terrence Cody’s girlfriend pulled a prank of sorts on her boyfriend. The Alabama star defensive tackle was on the phone with her when she said she was gonna change his Facebook status. He thought it was amusing that she put “going pro” on his page to mess with his friends.

However the prank soon got out of hand and ended up embarassing Terrence as everyone believed it. On top of that it somehow got out to the press that he might go pro. So now he has to practically have a press conference just to inform people if he wants to stay for his Senior year. It seems Cody got pranked unitentionally by his girl. Changing your facebook status to something absurd may be funny for the average joe, but apparently it is not wise for the soon to be rich and famous.

Hansbrough Breaks Record

Against Evansville on Thursday night, Tyler Hansbrough only needed 9 points to break the all-time scoring record and North Carolina. The college basketball star broke the record handily. Previous holder Phil Ford took a playful bow, then gave Hansbrough a hug in celebration. This was a 30 year old mark that Hansbrough broke, and the season isn’t even close to over. On top of that fact, Tyler is only 467 points behind ACC all-time scoring leader J.J. Redick who played at rival Duke. Tyler would only have to average about 23 points a game, he is currently averaging 22 point per game. Plus, given the fact they will most likely make the NCAA tournament he could have up to another additional six games. Hansbrough should have a fairly good shot at breaking the ACC record.

Mike Mad Dog Bell

Mike ‘Mad Dog’ Bell was found dead on sunday at a Costa Mesa live-in rehabilitation facility. Bell who was featured in the documentary “Bigger, Stronger, Faster” was only 37 when he died. He and his brothers had struggled with substance abuse (steroids and painkillers) which was the main theme of the documentary.

“You can’t really blame wrestling, but it’s kind of the lifestyle,” he said. “You have a couple of painkillers to get to the next match, have a couple drinks night to night and it gets out of hand.” Chris Bell said.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bell family.
