Christopher Lloyd’s Monticeto House in California was burnt down by the California fires. All that was left was smoldering concrete and rubble. Lloyd’s mansion was amoung dozens of other expensive home that burned down recently. Christoper Lloyd is most known for his role as the cooky professor from the “Back to the Future” series. His home was worth an estimated $11 million. He lost tons of memorablia and other keep sakes he had stored in the house.
Albert Pujols of the St.Louis Cardinals won the NL MVP today beating out the Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard. Pujols hit .357 with 37 home runs for the season. “I wasn’t surprised at all” Pujols said. “You have to consider everything. You have to put all the numbers together.” This is Albert’s second second NL MVP award of his career. He beat Howard by a fairly large amount of votes.
This new Star Trek trailer looks ridiculous. I expected J.J. Abrams to try and make the film more contemporary with better special effects. But this is messed up, Star Trek fans are gonna hate this. I really don’t see a trekkie liking the film when an actor (John Cho) from “Harold and Kumar go to White Castle” is in it. Also they are trying to make young James Kirk out to be some cool ‘James Dean’ renegade who sleeps with everyone. He is played by the previously unknown Chris Pine. While Spock is played by Zachary Quinto. Simon Pegg from the Shaun of the Dead movie plays Scotty. They are basically going to ruin the series like George Lucas ruined Star Wars with the prequels and Jar Jar. You can’t make Star Trek cool, and if you try to it will just look stupid. That is a fan base you don’t want to piss off, so J.J. better hope the fans like it!
Yaakov Alperon, a notorius Israeli Mafia Kingpin was assassinated when a car bomb blew up his vehicle when he was in Tel Aviv. Alperon had been indicted on extortion charges before his murder occured. Three other people were wounded including a thirteen year old boy. This incident has sparked fear in the Israeli people that organized crime is on the rise. Despite Police being opposed to the idea, his son Dror Alperon will be released from custody to attend the funeral of his infamous father. There will be an enormous amount of police for security at the funeral.
I really can’t believe this news as I am a huge Mavericks fan. However, Mark Cuban was recently charged by the SEC for insider trading. This came after allegations that he was dumping shares of Mamma.com stock prior to a private offering. The SEC says that he sold all 6 percent of the company that he owned right before this offering. His motive is that selling these shares would save him 750,000 because the stock was about to be diluted. This is all pretty ironic, as Cuban has lately been giving investors advice about hedgefunds and how to invest properly. Even Martha Stewart got put in jail for insider trading, so Cuban is not immune.
Wow! This is the first time I’ve ever even heard of NFL teams tying. I knew it was possible because the rule is if time expires and no one has scored than it is declared a tie. The tie will probably hurt the Philadelphia Eagles and not really affect the Cincinnati Bengals who already blew their season. The Eagles are in a tough division where three teams may get playoff spots, but they may not because of this tie. We will see down the road.
How is it that the NFL has worse overtime rules than College Football? These are proffessionals for crying out loud. Do we not want the best team to win? I mean in the overtime portion, 90 percent of the time the team that wins the coin toss wins in overtime. The NFL commisioner needs to change this rule to be similar to college, only maybe they start from their opponents 45 yard line instead of the 35 like in college. Otherwise a football team could be right on the brink of making the playoffs, but don’t because they didn’t call heads! They may as well play a game of black jack to determine the winner. I’d rather watch that! Let me hear from you guys if any of you like the current rules and explain why.
The Syracuse athletic director Daryl Gross fired head football coach Greg Robinson today. Gross had big expectations for the Syracuse football coach to turn things around this season. But after going a dismal 3-24 in the Big East and 9-36 overall, Gross decided he had given coach Robinson enough time and nothing traspired.
Mr.Gross will let Robinson coach the last few games against Notre Dame and Cincinnati. The Syracuse football team has struggled in recent years and will probably have trouble finding someone willing to turn the team around that has the know-how to do so.
Jim Fassel has been writing letters basically stating to owner Al Davis of the Raiders that he would like to be the next Oakland Raiders coach. Fassel had last been a offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens football team back in 2006. No coincendence either, that he was also offensive coordinator for the Raiders back in 1990-92. We shall see if Davis is open to Fassel coming on board to help change things around, or if he stays stubborn as a mule.
It appears Michael Snaer of Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, California will pick a College, and therefore Basketball team soon. Michael Snaer’s college choices would be either Florida State University, Kansas University, or Marquette. It is highly rumoured and anticipated that he would pick Florida State.
