Davone Bess went to Skyline Highschool in Oakland California. He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. Davone got into trouble when he was in high school by letting a friend hide stolen items in his car. Because of this he lost his scholarship to Oregon State. In 2005 he was able to go play football in college for Hawaii. Luckily for him this was the year Colt Brennan joined the Hawaii Warriors alongside Bess. So alot of passes went Davone’s way during those four years. Davone was not drafted in 2008 but he was an unsigned free agent with the Miami Dolphins. He caught his fist touchdown against the Raven in week 7 this year. I think this is a great example of persisting and not letting life get you down.

Apparently in the Florida-Florida State game Percy Harvin went down with an ankle injury. We’ll have to keep an eye on this matter to see if he recovers. The Florida Gators always involve Harvin in their offense and it would be a severe blow to them if they lost him for the SEC championship or the National Championship. The Gators must got through the defensive Alabama team to get to the National Championship. We will keep you updated on this injury.

Sylvester Croom who played for Alabama and was a longtime assistant coach for Mississippi State has resigned from the head coach position at MSU. The reason he resigns today has not been explained althought this year’s dreadful season might have something to do with it. He was the first Black head football coach in the SEC. A statement from the university will be released soon today. They lost their rivalry game to Ole Miss 45-0. The team went 4-8 overall this year and didn’t make a bowl game.

New York Giants Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress was at a club friday night and was shot. Reports indicated that Plaxico accidentally shot himself in the leg! Not your typical shooting that’s for sure. The injury was not too serious and Plaxico left the hospital some time this morning. What he was doing with a gun in a club is anybody’s guess. This comes after the NFL has already had problems with situations like the Pac Man Jones and Darrent Williams gun incidents. You would think the NFL commissioner is about to get pretty angry over this and want to see some changes from NFL players and their conduct in public. Domenik Hixson will Replace Burress in their next game.

Plenty of Oregon and Oregon State fans know of the intensity of the Civil War. Running back Jeremiah Johnson of Oregon found out about the Civil War when he signed on with Oregon. He knew of the rivalry and became a beaver hater every since he has played for the ducks. Unfortunately last year he was injured during the rivalry game and had to miss out. But this year he is a senior and is ready to do some damage to Oregon State. “We’re going to play real, real, real, real, real hard” he says of the game. If Oregon knocks off Oregon State it would cause the beavers to lose out to USC when it comes to playing in the Rose Bowl.

I saw the camera pan up in the Texas A&M game and I saw Colt McCoy’s parents and I wasn’t sure if it was his girlfriend or sister standing to the left of them. I looked it up and apparently it is McCoy’s girlfriend, Rachel Glandorf. Apparently she is also part-time sports reporter for Austin-based KEYE CBS TV. Maybe Rachel will be reporting in the NFL while McCoy is playing there. You never know. It’s like something out of a movie, the female sports reporter and the famous athlete. Kinda like Happy Gilmore. Good for you Colt!

Appraised short film director Vigalondo is delving into his first feature film. Timecrimes is a foreign film that deals with the main character going back in time to deal with his double and triple. It is a very twisty turning film that is intense yet intriguing. I would definitely be interested in seeing this independent film when it arrives to theaters. People tend to like the jigsaw puzzle movies, however foreign films struggle in America generally speaking. Timecrimes comes out December 12.

The Tennessee volunteers football program is looking to recruit Lane Kiffin as their next head coach. This is a unusual pick as Kiffin has been 5-15 in the NFL. He doesn’t look to offer Tennessee much more than their previous coach Phil Fulmer. Fulmer had great successes over the course of his career, but his team has been on the decline in the past few years. He might have been removed due to the competitive nature of the SEC. Kiffin may have better success in college football as he was the offensive coordinator at USC when they were on top of college football. Some coaches such as Nick Saban, among others, have better success in college. This would not be a horrible pick if Kiffin gets their offense firing on all cylinders and brings in some good defensive coordinators. Tennessee went 4-7 overall and 2-5 in conference so far and has one more home game against Kentucky.

Florida Football coach Urban Meyer’s daughter, Nicki Meyer, has been recruited and will play volleyball for Georgia Tech. Meyer said “I’m really proud to have her accept a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech to play volleyball.” She plays the libero position and will continue to do so in college. She took her team to the state championship as a junior and fell short as a senior in the regional finals. Nicki said “I’m really excited to think about what the next four years has in store for me.”

Hey this is the latest and best trailer I could find for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie coming out next spring. The movie looks good, Hugh Jackman is back and bad as ever. The actor who plays Sabertooth really looks to do a good job. Oh yeah and I know true X-men fans are gonna love that they included Gambit this time. The film will have plenty of action and a great storyline. I look forward to it’s release in theaters.
